Guava Pastries

Finally, I have salvaged some cherry guavas and made Guayabate. It is delicious! The recipe I used is here Guava Paste-Guayabate Recipe - Food.com - 54036. Very easy to do but I am interested if there is much difference in the flavour if using large guavas. I do love my little cherry ones as much as the fruit flies do. The recipe makes two loafs as pictured. (loaf cake pan)
For the pastries I simply cut squares of Puff Pastry, placed a square of guava and a square of cream cheese on one, placed another pastry on top and brushed with milk and sprinkled with sugar. I put more powdered sugar on top after baking because my oven is bad and they got a little dark before getting fully puffed. These are so easy and not overly sweet - only the guayabate. If you kept the ingredients on hand you have an amazing treat for quick coffee or dessert.
